The Short Answer
Traditional marriage counseling is usually hourly, problem-focused, and done privately with one professional. Christian marriage coaching, like the Conscious Christian Marriage program, is ongoing, practical, and Scripture-led: couples learn concrete tools, practice them weekly on live calls, and grow alongside a community of other Christian couples. Many couples find coaching works better when they want growth and accountability, not just insight.
The short comparison
Format: counseling is typically a private 50-minute session. CCM coaching is weekly live couples calls, monthly husbands and wives calls, recorded replays, and a private community.
Focus: counseling often centers on processing what went wrong. Coaching centers on building what comes next, with specific tools like agreements, check-ins, and repairs.
Foundation: CCM is biblically based and psychology reinforced. Scripture leads, and the psychology serves it.
Duration: counseling is often treated as a short-term fix. CCM members stay because marriage never stops needing tending. Some members are eight years in and call themselves lifers.
Cost: the CCM coaching program is $297 per month per couple, which covers every call, every course, and the community. That is often less than two hourly sessions.
Who coaching is a good fit for
Couples who love Jesus and want their marriage to reflect that. Couples who already tried counseling and want something more practical. Couples whose marriage is good and who want it to be great. As we like to say, you do not have to be sick to invest in your health.
Many of our members are business owners, pastors, physicians, military officers, and church leaders. Driven people who refuse to be mediocre at the most important thing they will ever do.
Who might need more than a group
Some couples are carrying more than a weekly group call can hold. For them, our Premier program adds private 2:2 coaching with Austin and Rachel twice a month, plus individual sessions. If you are not sure which is right, apply and tell us where you are. We read every application ourselves.
Our core conviction
Your marriage was never meant to make you happy. It was meant to make you holy. That is the blueprint everything at CCM is built on: consecration, then sanctification, then holiness. Your spouse is not a malfunction in that process. Your spouse is often the very person God is using to make you more like Christ.

Common questions
Is CCM coaching done online?
Yes. Calls run on Zoom and every call is recorded, so couples join from all fifty states and several countries. There are also two in-person gatherings each year at the Holt Farm near Kansas City.
Who leads the coaching?
Austin and Rachel Holt founded Conscious Christian Marriage in 2017 and lead the weekly calls. They have served more than a thousand couples.
Do both spouses have to join?
It is best when both are in, but many people join first and their spouse comes along later.
